<br />regular meeting, april 22, 1968 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Mr. Smith said he felt the land should be kept intact. <br />Mr. Roberts said he had had telephone calls about the <br />property, "and one ugly letter"; that he understood the <br />Council's position, but he did feel Mr. Meiks had been <br />treated unfairly. Dr. Pool said: .Our policy has been <br />consistent", and moved that the building permit be denied. <br />Mr. Dannelley seconded the motion and on roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, Smith, Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced and read aloud a Resolution re-stat- <br />ing the City's policy on issuing building permits in the <br />GNRP area. The Resolution is attached as a part of the <br />Minutes. Dr. Pool moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. <br />Zavesky seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow- <br />ing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE; <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, Smith, Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />Herbert Yarbrough. representing the San Marcos Lions Club, <br />appeared before the Council with an amended proposal for <br />assistance in improving the Little league ballfields. A <br />copy of the estimated cost is attached as a part of the <br />Minutes. Mr. Yarbrough said a request to LCRA for assist- <br />ance with the lighting had.been refused. Richard Pustejovsky <br />explained the amended repair plan, which tmtaled $1,857.00. <br />The original request was for $9,415.75. Councilman Smith <br />moved that the City allow $1,857.00 .for improvement of the <br />Little League Field. Councilman Zavesky seconded the motion. <br />Councilman Flores asked the City Manager if that amount <br />could be managed in the current budget. Mr. Bean said it <br />could be taken out of the contingency fund. Forum, <br />appeared before,the Council to request that the Council <br />take formal notice of war casualties among local service <br />men. Celestino Mendez, jr., G.!. Forum member, read aloud <br />a Resolution and requested that it be considered for approv- <br />al by the Council. Mr. Hinojosa said the G.I. Forum would <br />like to make three requests, in addition to approval of <br />the Resolution: 1) that the Council declare a day of mourn~ <br />ing for each of its war dead; 2) that the Council require <br />flags to be flown at half mast on that day; 3) that. the <br />Council send an official representative to the funeral. <br />The Mayor commended members of the G,l. Forum for bringing <br />the matter to the attention of the Council. Mr. Dannelley <br />moved approval of the Resolution.
