<br />~egula~ meeting, septembe~ 23, 1968 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />C~addock, Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, <br />Smith, Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor decla~ed the Ordinance passed on second ~eading. <br /> <br />The Mayor recommended that Mr. Jerry Moo~e and Dr. Charles <br />Willms be reappointed to the Urban Renewal Board for two- <br />year te~ms, Councilman Smith moved that Mr. Moore and <br />Dr. Willms be reappointed to the Urban Renewal Board <br />for two-year terms. Dr. C~addock seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Pool introduced for discussion the possibility of <br />the City's development of Potters Creek Area of Canyon <br />lake Pa~k. He moved that in the near future, the Corps <br />of Engineers be asked to send a ~ep~esentative to explain <br />what the City's obligation would be, should .the Council <br />decide to accept the Corps' offer of Potter~CreekArea <br />for use as a municipal park. Dr. Craddock seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor said a number of people had been to him about <br />the congested traffic on South Guadalupe Street. Reference <br />was made to the danger of school children crossing the st~eet. <br />Councilman flores moved that a meeting of the School Boa~d, <br />the Highway Department and the Council be called for discussion <br />of traffic safety in the school zone. Councilman Zavesky <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously, <br /> <br />The City Manager presented for consideration of the Council <br />a Resolution approving an exchange of property between the <br />City and Frank Sharp. The property would provide amors <br />desirable entrance to the new Waste Wate~ Treatment Plant. <br />The land Committee had approved ~he exchang~ and the matter <br />had been discussed at a pf'evious meeting. Councilman Dannelley <br />moved ~pproval of the Resolution. Dr. Cradd6ck seconded the <br />motion and on 1'.011 calL the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Sef'ur, <br />Smith, Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The City Manager discussed with the Council a plat showing <br />the streets scheduled for seal-coating this Fall. He reported <br />that bids on the SealCbat Project would be opened October 3. <br />Dr. Craddock moved approval of the program as outlined by <br />Mr. Bean. Councilman Zavesky seconded the motion, ~hich pass- <br />ed unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager asked authorization to employ W.H. Klapproth, I <br />retired traffic engineer fol" the City o~ Austin, fora study <br />of San Marcos' traffic problems; Mr. Klapproth'~ fees are <br />$8.00 per hour, and 8t pef' mile for travel. Dr. Ci"addock <br />moved that Mr. Klapproth be employed f6r a study 6f traffic' <br />problems in San Marcos. Mr. Dannelley seconded the-motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Council went ..into executive session at .8: 05 p.m. t6 <br />discuss acquisition of right-af-way and easements fo~ the <br />Water and Sewer Improvement Project. <br />
