/ ~,_! ~:' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLUMBING CODE FOR THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, BY DELETING THE PRESENT SUBSECTION 10. OF SECTION 602. OF CHAPTER 6 OF SAID CODE, AND SUBSTITUTING AN ENTIRELY NEW SUBSEC- TION UNDER THE SAME NUMBER; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: 1. I That the present Subsection 10. of Section 602, of Chapter 6 of the Plumbing Code for the City of San Marcos, Texas, be deleted and an entirely new sub- section, under the same number be substituted therefor, so that said subsection shall henceforth read as follows: 10. CONNECTION. The term "connection" as used herein shall mean each and every joining of a sewer line leading from any building or structure with a part of the Sanitary Sewage System of the City of San Marcos, Texas. Each dwelling unit in all "R" (Single-Family Dwelling District) zoned districts shall be individually connected to said system. The designation of an "R" (Single-Family Dwelling Dis- trict), as set out in that Zoning Ordinance of the City of San Marcos, Texas, dated May 23, 1966, and of record in Volume 32, pages 51-61, Minutes of the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby adopted verbatim for the pur- poses of this subsection of Section 602, of Chapter 6 of the Plumbing Code for the City of San Marcos, Texas. II. That, except as hereby amended, said Plumbing Code for the City of San Marcos, Texas, shall otherwise remain unchanged. III. I The public welfare, health and safety being presently endangered due to the fact that the existing Plumbing Code of the City of San Marcos does not appropriately define a sewer line "connection" nor require individual connections for each dwelling unit in all "R" (Single-Family Dwelling District); therefore, an emergency exists, requiring that the provisions of the Charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas, which ordinarily require ordinances to be read on three several days and that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage, be dispensed with. Thus, this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by this body.
