Mr. Bean explained how
the Monitor works, saying he would like to start with
twenty, and gradually furnish all volunteers with the
equipment. Mr. Oannelley moved authorization of pur-
chase of 20 "Alert Monitors". Mr. Zavesky seconded
the motion, which passed unanimously.

Mr. Bean introduced for Council approval an Amendatory
Agreement with the Department of Housing and Urban
Development on the $400,000 loan to the City of San
Marcos. The effective interest rate is unchanged,
the City Manager stated; the amendment only involves
a favorable change in maturity schedule. Dr. Pool
moved approved of the Amendatory Loan Offer with
HUD. Dr. Craddock seconded the motion and on roll call
the following vote was recorded:

AYE:
NAY:

Craddock, Dannelley, Pool, Serur, Smith, Zavesky
None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

Mr. Bean informed the Council that Ike Herrington,
presently a sargeant with the Police Department,
would replace the late Frank Ryals as Superintendent
of Buildings and Grounds, effective Feb. 1.

I

The Council adjourned to reconvene at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday,
January 28, 1969.

H.A. Saunders asked to speak before the Counci~. He re-
ferred to a petition which he had filed with the City
Secretary just prior to the Council Meeting. The signers,
several of whom were present, protested the annexation of
a portion of Westover Addition. The Mayor informed Mr.
Saunders that a Public Hearing had been called for the
following day at 2:30 p.m., to give all interested parties
an opportunity to speak. Mr. Saunders said they were all
working people, and would be unable to attend the Hearing.
The Mayor said the action had been taken by the Council on
recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission, and
the Public Hearing had been called in compliance with
State Statute.

I

~d~
~ ~ Ellis Serur t~
Mayor ~ Q')' '.
. -,(..& !
