<br />.1-; <br /> <br />regular meeting, february 24, 1969 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />Mr.Zavesky moved appro~al of a change {n zoning <br />from "R-l" to "R-2" (Duplex). Dr. Pool seconded <br />the motion. A letter from Planning & Zoning <br />Commission stated that no protest was received at <br />the public hearing on the request for rezoning,' <br />see attached. On roll call, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from Dr. George <br />Garza, bringing to the attention of the Council <br />a request he had made in September, 1967. Dr. <br />Garza asked again that the Council rename <br />Fredericksburg Street,.Peter Garza Street., in <br />honor of his father and his brother, a casualty <br />of World War 11. The letter is made a part of <br />the Minutes. Mr. Dannelley moved that, when a <br />new, s~reet becomes available, it be designated <br />.Peter Garza Street., instead of changing th~ <br />name of an existing street. Mr. Zavesky second~ <br />ed the motion. The Mayor pointed out that other <br />streets had been renamed to honor war dead, or <br />persons who had made an outs~anding contribution <br />to San Marcos. On roll call, the following vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AY E: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Dannelley, Serur, Smith, Zavesky <br />Flores, Pool <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on his study o~ condit- <br />ions foll~wing receipt of a petition regarding <br />littering from residents of the Lime Kiln Road area. <br />Mr. Bean made the following points: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1. The City 'ihould make every effort to enforce <br />anti-littering laws within the corporate <br />limits of San Marcos <br />2. A study of the rate schedule for depositing <br />trash at the City Dump was being made, <br />recommendations for the Council's consid- <br />eration to be presented at an e",rly date <br />3.
