Library After comparing Library Services in various cities I conclude we have a high average library in performance but the cost is out of line with costs of cities of comparable size and service. I recommend the deletion of 2 positions immediately and Director attempt to work closely with University to have practice teachers come in or possibly interns. 15,000..00 I 5. City Treasurer 17,011.00 I propose this department be abolished and Finance Director take over these duties with Bookkeepers or Finance Clerks to carryon the duties under direction of Finance Director. 6. Tax Assessor-Collector 19,761.00 I propose Tax Assessor-Collector and Deputy Tax Assessor-Collector positions be abolished and placed under direction of Financial Director. Duties could be performed by Tax Clerks - approximately at a salary of $8,000.00 each. 7. Purchasing Agent I propose this position be abolished completly and all purchase requests be originated in department head office and forwarded to Department of Finance for verification of funds available, then on to supplier. 14,287.00 I 8. Public Works 20,350.00 A. I recommend the abolishment of 1 position of City Engineer. Director along with other staff can man this position. B. Building Inspector - 1 recommend the abolishment of this 14,169.00 position as we have other inspectors that can do the duties of this position and not interfer with their duties. C. Shop Superintendent - I propose abolishment of this position 6,000.00 and in its place hire a mechanic to keep equipment rolling. D. Utility Service Superintendent - 1 propose abolishment of 14,847.00 this position and have water and waste Water Superintendent assume these duties. 'IOI'AL proPOSED SAVINGS $251,937.00
