<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />2.2.3 <br /> <br />Gather and review existing reports, maps, plates, and <br /> <br />data. <br /> <br />2.2.4 Deve lop a preliminary desi gn concept of proposed improve- <br />ments of the PROJECT with sketches necessary to describe the proposed <br />improvements in their approximate locations for the OWNER'S approval. <br />2.2.5 Prepare a statement of the ENGINEER'S opinion of con- <br />struction costs based upon the preliminary designs developed for each <br />individual item of work authorized. The ENGINEER'S opinion of the con- <br />struction cost will be based upon prices available at th~ time of , prep a- <br />ration without consideration of any inflationary increases in costs. <br />The ENGINEER will not be required to guarantee the accur~cy of the esti.. <br />mates. <br />2.2.6 Prepare a statement reflecting estimated engineering <br />costs relative to each project. <br />2.2.7 Preparation of a preliminary report. <br /> <br />2.3 PHASE 2, DESIGN <br />Upon receipt of the OWNER'S written authorization to implement <br />Phase 2 and to proceed with final design and preparation of contract <br />drawings and specifications, the ENGINEER shall: <br />2.3.1 Establish the scope and advise the OWNER of any soil and <br />foundations investigation, or of other special surveys and tests which, <br />in the opinion of the ENGINEER, may be required for design; and when <br />authorized by the OWNER, arrange for such work to be done, for the <br />OWNER'S account, as set forth in Article 5. <br />2.3.2 Furnish to the OWNER, where required by the circumstances <br />of the assignment, the engineering data necessary for applications for <br />-4- <br />
