<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.4.2 Assist the OWNER in the opening and tabulation of bids <br />for construction of the PROJtCT, and consult with the UWNER as to the <br />proper action to be taken, based on the engineering considerations <br />involved. <br /> <br />2.4.3 <br /> <br />Assist in the preparation of formal construction Contract <br /> <br />Documents. <br /> <br />2.4.4 <br /> <br />Make necessary visits to the site of the construction to <br /> <br />observe the progress and quality of the construction work: and to deter- <br />mine, in general, if the results of the construction work are in accor- <br />dance with the drawings and the specifications. In performing these <br />services, the ENGINEER will endeavor to guard the OWNER against apparent <br />defects and deficiencies in the permanent work construct~d by the Con- <br />tractor, but he does not guarantee the performance of the Contractor. <br />The ENGINEER shall not be required to make exhaustive on-site observa- <br />tions to check the quality or quantity of the construction work. The <br />ENGINEER is not responsible for construction means, methods, techni- <br />ques, sequences or procedures, time of performance, programs, or for <br />any safety precautions in connection with the construction work. The <br />ENGINEER is not responsible for the Contractor's failune to execute <br />the work in accordance with the construction contract. <br />2.4.5 Consult and advise the OWNER; issue all instructions <br />to the Contractor requested by the OWNER; and prepare toutine change <br />orders as required. <br />2.4.6 Prepare a program for testing of materials and laborat.ory <br />control during construction, and, if authorized by the OWNER, arrange <br />for testing and laboratory control and interpretation, of the results for <br />the OWNER'S account as set forth in Article 5. <br /> <br />-7- <br />
