79 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />June 8, 1981 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration an Ordinance on first reading, <br />read in its entirety, the caption which follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, DECLARING THE NECESSITY OF ACQUIRING <br />A PORTION OF BLOCK TWO (2) OF THE HOME FARM BLOCKS <br />SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SAID <br />PORTION LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF GUADALUPE <br />STREET AND ROOSEVELT STREET, FOR A PUBLIC PURPOSE; <br />DESCRIBING THE PROJECT FOR ~ICH SAID PROPERTY IS TO <br />BE ACQUIRED; DESCRIBING SAID PROPERTY; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY TO INSTITUTE CONDEMNATION PROCEED- <br />INGS AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved to approve the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Brown seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration approval to bid on radio <br />console for the Public Safety Building. Mr. R. E. Minnie, Director <br />of Public Safety, submitted the specifications for this equipment. <br />Mr. James moved to approve the bidding on the radio console and <br />Mrs. Mendez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced holding a public hearing on Tract D contain- <br />ing 6.3 acres in Sunset Acres on Broadway Street from "R-i" (Single- <br />Family Residential Dwelling District) to "R-2" (Duplex or Two-Family <br />Dwelling District). No one wished to speak for or against the rezoning <br />of Tract D at the public hearing and Mr. James closed the public hear- <br />ing and instructed the City Secretary to republish the public hearing <br />in the newspaper after the zoning request goes before Planning and <br />Zoning. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced holding a public hearing on the rezoning of Lot <br />3 in Feltner Addition, a/k/a 117 Sherwood from "R-i" (Single-Family <br />Residential Dwelling District) to "C" (Commercial District). No one <br />wished to speak in favor of the rezoning and Mr. Isabel Adalpe, Jr. <br />spoke in opposition to the rezoning of the property and also presented <br />a petition of the residents opposing the rezoning. No one else wished <br />to speak at the public hearing and Mr. James closed the public hearing. <br />Mr. James instructed the City Secretary to republish the public hear- <br />ing in the newspaper if this rezoning request goes before Planning and <br />Zoning in the future. <br /> <br />Mrs. James introduced holding a public hearing and first reading on <br />the rezoning of 1.706 acres out of the J. M. Veramendi League No. <br />One off Hunter Road from "AO" (Agricultural-Open Space District) to <br />"MH" (MObile Home District). No one wished to speak in favor or <br />against the rezoning of the property. The Ordinance was not read on <br />first'reading. Planning and Zoning had tabled the zoning request and <br />referred the same to the Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced a Zoning Ordinance on first reading and a public <br />hearing. Mr. James opened the public hearing. Mr. Robert McDonald, <br />owner of the property, spoke in favor of the zoning change and no one <br />spoke against the zoning change. The Zoning Ordinance was then read <br />in its entirety, the caption which follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF <br />BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED SEPTEMBER 29, <br />1980 (VOL. 54) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF PARTS OF <br />LOT NOS. 9, 10 AND 11 IN BLOCK NO. 4 AND PART OF LOT <br />NO~ i IN BLOCK NO. 5 OF THE H. E. BARBER ADDITION,. <br />LOCATED ON QUARRY STREET, FROM "P" (PUBLIC USE) TO <br />"TH" (TOWNHOME DISTRICT). <br /> <br /> <br />
