1.10.2 During the PS &E portion of this Project, the Engineer will produce bridge structure
layouts in accordance with applicable TxDOT manuals. In addition, the Engineer will submit
bridge layouts for review and approval by TxDOT prior to beginning design and detailing of
superstructure and substructure components. The Engineer will submit layouts for review as
soon as it has determined and finalized major geometry and structural components. The
Engineer will design and detail one structure based on HL -93 loading with the applicable
TxDOT and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification. The Engineer will design the bridge
to have radial substructure and the steel unit will be limited to a max center span of 285 feet and
overall balanced unit limited to 700 feet.
1.10.3 Develop:
1) Preliminary Bridge Layout.
2) TxDOT Roadway Design System ( "RDS ") model with horizontal and vertical
alignments for bridges utilizing the roadway data produced by GEOPAK software.
3) Miscellaneous bridge details.
1. 10.4 Design and detail:
1) One continuous steel plate I- girder unit (max unit of 700 feet and max center span of
285 feet).
2) Two additional steel plate I- girders for the unit due to the 64' bridge width.
3) Up to three (3) Type IV pre- stressed concrete beam units.
4) Up to three (3) framing plans for the pre- stressed concrete beam units.
5) Up to two (2) sets of details for the post tensioned straddle bents for use in supporting
the steel plate I- girder unit.
6) Up to two (2) two- column conventionally reinforced inverted T -cap interior bents;
7) The bridge deck drain system.
1.10.5 Detail one set of abutment drawings for use on both bridge ends;
1.10.6 Prepare bridge quantities and the Estimate and Quantities and Bearing Seat Elevation
sheet;
1. 10.7 Provide appropriate bridge standards.
1.10.8 Finalize the UPRR Exhibit Abased on final approvals and final design.
1.10.9 Obtain standard drawings for bridge decks, culverts, railing, etc. from the TxDOT web
site. Modifications to the standards, if necessary, will be clearly identified and designated as
"MOD" in the standard title as well as signed and sealed by the Engineer.
1.10.10 Deliverables.
