0 At approximately 9:31 p.m. Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing.
Elena Duran, 1133 Lago Vista, spoke in favor of the project and thanked Council for their positive
consideration of this project.
Ed Bolton, 101 Thermon Drive, spoke in favor of the project citing that this would be a great place
for some of his new employees to live, and feels that it's great for the business community.
Sherri Bilson, 2006 Lisa Lane, spoke against the project and feels that if we want to attract more
middle class people then we need to build more garden style homes, not apartments.
Charlotte Krauses, 2001 North View Dr, spoke against the project staring that she feels the number
of apartments and people that would be in their neighborhood is quite an invasion of privacy, and
that she is not for seeing any more apartment buildings going up.
Shirley Thayer, 1804 Lancaster St, stated that she is concerned with the parking problems this
project will cause. She stated that she already has a hard time getting out of her driveway on
Craddick. She does not feel that this is the best place for this project.
Nicholas Cabides, 1805 Aquarena Springs Drive, spoke in favor of the project and asked that
Council vote with the students.
• Gerald A. Martin, 601 Dale Dr, signed up for comment, but was not present.
Tyler Johnson, ASG Representative, spoke in high support of The Retreat. The ASG passed a
resolution in support of the project as well. We were very interested in support of the developers
committing to the ACT program. The developers are committed to it and addressing student issues.
This would be a transition for students that will be moving into their own home later on. They
believe it will be a good experience for students.
Ben McCollum, 105 Autumn Cove, spoke in favor of how hard the developers had worked on this
project and asked Council to look favorably on this project.
Vic Patel, address unavailable, spoke in favor of the project.
Faye Stokes, address unavailable, spoke in favor of the project and asked for Council to approve the
project.
Pam Foster, 1901 Lisa Lane, asked that Council not approve this project. She stated that the traffic
is already bad enough in this area.
John McBride, 703 Oak Heights, spoke in opposition of this project and stated that he felt this
development was so disrespectful to the older people who have been a backbone for this city. He
stated that unless you want to live in an apartment complex don't come to San Marcos.
•
