Barry James, 1610 Ranch Road 12, spoke about how this project is in violation of Sector Plan 2 and . was upset about the lag time between this project coming from Planning and Zoning to City Council for consideration. They did not have enough time to get a petition together in opposition of this project. Brenda Smith, 1610 Ranch Road 12, stated that she sent an email to Council prior to the meeting, and that she feels this developer knows this isn't the right fit for the project. She stated that she was against this project. David Jesik, 1924 Ramona Circle, spoke against the project. Anita Fuller, 121 Catherine Cove, spoke in favor of the project and praised the developers. She stated this is the best thing to happen to San Marcos. Camille Phillips, Franklin Dr, spoke in opposition of this project and more multifamily development. Robbie White, 407 Oakland Loop, stated that students will want to live here and will get them out of the single family neighborhoods. He spoke in favor of the project. John Williams, The Retreat, stated that they worked on the PDD for over 9 months. They had 4 meetings with citizens and 6 meetings with staff. They chose not to do a regular rezone because they wanted to be bound to our plan. Russ Crump, The Retreat, stated that he believed they have brought a great project that is good for i San Marcos. There being no further comments, the Public Hearing was closed at 10:18 p.m. MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Prather and a second by Council Member Scott, the City Council voted (5) for and (2) opposed, Mayor Guerrero and Council Member Thomason, to adopt Ordinance 2011 -09 on the first of two readings.
