She thanked the school for having a great speaker. 4) Mayor Narvaiz stated she participated in National Night Out and thanked the neighborhoods for their support of this program. 5) Mayor Narvaiz stated National League of Cities is asking for Resolutions from Cities to be submitted. She stated if any Council Member wishes to submit a Resolution to contact the City Clerk before the next Council Meeting. 6) Mayor Narvaiz thanked Melani Howard for her work at the Nature Center. 7) Mayor Narvaiz stated she spoke to the Board of Realtors about the City's financial forecast. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration joint public hearing of City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the Planning and Zoning Commission's Draft Map for the proposed citywide Rezoning, and receive Planning and Zoning Commission's Draft Map and explanation of how Map was prepared; and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as the follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND ADOPTING A NEW OFFICIAL CITY ZONING MAP FOR THE CITY; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Roll was called for the Planning and Zoning Commission. (Present: Mr. Steed, Mr. Thorton, Mr. Terry, Mr. Forrester, Ms. Robertson, Mr. Becerra. Absent: Mr. Hutchinson, Mr. DeSoto and Mr. Gonzales). Mr. Thornton, Chairman of Planning and Zoning Commission, thanked the Council for the opportunity to bring a Zoning Map in two phases. He stated the City is changing its rezoning categories to reflect the new Land Development Code. He stated each Planning and Zoning Commissioner took a different sector of the City to review. He stated open houses, public hearings, and special meetings were held to inform the public. He stated the property owners who wished to seek a different zoning designation completed forms and were provided information. Ms. Robertson stated she is pleased with the rezoning process. She stated the Planning and Zoning Commission provided thoughtful consideration of each case. Mayor Narvaiz thanked the Planning and Zoning Commission for their hard work. Mayor Narvaiz opened the joint public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. 1) Sheri Bilson thanked the Planning Department for their hard work. She encouraged the Council to keep the Weatherford property zoning as FS6. 2) Lorraine Spencer thanked the Planning Department for their hard work in the Citywide rezoning project. She encouraged the Council to approve the Ordinance. 3) Mark Doehne stated his property has been in his family for 50 years. He requested the Council change the zoning of his property from FS6 to TH. He stated he feels his property meets the requirements of Townhouse zoning. 4) Terry Ellison stated he is the property owner of property #36, 37 and 38 on the map provided by the Planning Department. He requested the Council change his property zoning from R-1 to Neighborhood Commercial. He stated he settled for Neighborhood Commercial, but feels his property is better
