<br />manager control officer is satisfied that arrangements have been made for the proper treatment <br />of the sick animal <br /> <br />(f) Any animal that is severely iniured or ill can be immediately euthanized ifit ieopardizes the <br />health of the other shelter animals or is so badlv iniured that it cannot be saved by reasonable <br />means and is suffering needlessly. This decision shall be made at the discretion of the animal <br />servIces manager. <br /> <br />(g) The owner of an unsterilized impounded animal shall be assessed an additional impoundment <br />fee or shall have the animal sterilized by a veterinarian. If an unsterilized animal is impounded <br />more than twice within one calendar year, the owner shall have the animal sterilized within one <br />week of release. <br /> <br />(fh) In addition to or in lieu of impoundment, police or animal control officers may issue to the <br />owner of an animal a notice of ordinance violation, which shall contain a written promise by the <br />owner to appear in the municipal court, within ten days of the date of the issuance, to answer the <br />charge made in the notice. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.137. Disposition of unclaimed animals. <br /> <br />Any healthy miniature swine, dog or cat left unclaimed after the expiration of the maximum time <br />limit as provided in section 6.136 shall become the property of the city animal control <br />department and shall be placed for adoption or humanely euthanized. All other impounded <br />animals left unclaimed after the expiration of three working days become the property of the <br />animal control department and will be humanely euthanized or sold at public auction following <br />the procedure as set forth in this division. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.138. Sale of impounded livestock. <br /> <br />(a) All livestock impounded under this division that are not reclaimed by their owners within <br />three working days after notice of impoundment is given to the owner or within ten working days <br />of impoundment, if the owner cannot be determined, may be sold by the chief of police at a <br />public auction under the following conditions: <br /> <br />(1) Notice of the time, location and terms of sale, including a description of the animals to be <br />sold, will be given at least five days in advance by posting the notice in at least two public places <br />in the city and by publication of this notice at least once in a newspaper of general circulation <br />within the city prior to the auction. <br /> <br />(2) All sales will be for cash. <br /> <br />(3) A reasonable period of time will be provided before all sales to allow public inspection of <br />animals to be sold. <br /> <br />15 <br />
