<br />(b) An owner of impounded livestock may reclaim the livestock at any time before the sale of <br />the livestock is announced at the auction by presentation of reasonable evidence of ownership <br />and payment of all impoundment fees. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.139. Field euthanasia. <br /> <br />If any animal found running at large in violation of this chapter cannot be safely impounded, the <br />animal may, if it presents imminent danger to persons, property or other animals, be field <br />euthanized by any authorized police or animal control officer. <br /> <br />Secs. 6.140--6.165. Reserved. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 4. RABIES CONTROL <br /> <br />Sec. 6.166. Designation of local hcalthrabies control authority. <br /> <br />The €fti:ef.animal services manager control officer is designated as the locall:iealthrabies control <br />authority for purposes of implementation of the Rabies Control Act, V.T.c.A., Health and Safety <br />Code' 826.001 et seq. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.167. Vaccination of miniature swine, dogs and cats. <br /> <br />(a) Every owner of a miniature s\vine, dog or cat shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies <br />by a veterinarian by the time the animal is four months of age and at regular intervals not less <br />than once each year thereafter. <br /> <br />(b) A veterinarian who vaccinates a miniature s\vine, dog or cat against rabies shall issue to the <br />owner of the animal a dated vaccination certificate describing the animal vaccinated and a rabies <br />vaccination tag. <br /> <br />(c) The owner of the vaccinated animal shall keep the rabies vaccination tag securelv fastened <br />around the neck of the animal at all times by means of a collar or harness. <br /> <br />Sec. 6.168. Reports of exposure of rabies required. <br /> <br />(a) Any person having knowledge of an animal bite or scratch that the person could reasonably <br />foresee as capable of transmitting rabies or of an animal that the person suspects is rabid shall <br />report the incident or animal to the locall:iealthrabies control authority. The report shall include <br />the location of the incident or animal, the name and address of the animal's owner and of any <br />victim, if known, aHd-a description of the animal. and any other information that may help in <br />locating the victim or the animal. <br /> <br />(b) The local h:ealthrabies control authority shall investigate all reports of rabies. <br /> <br />16 <br />
