The City of San Marcos RFP # 211 -037.
"Assure the continuation of CenturyLink mission critical business operations and
services with the goal to minimize financial impacts and damage to the
CenturyLink brand, its employees and customers following significant business
disruptions."
The mission statement clearly communicates the importance of business
continuity to all departments and business units of the Company. Our program
incorporates the industry- accepted Professional Practices of the Disaster
Recovery Institute International (DRII). Our approach includes; risk identification
and assessment, risk reduction strategies, business resumption planning, disaster
recovery planning, and incident management. CenturyLink has adopted a more
comprehensive approach to business continuity planning in order for the
Company to achieve and maintain an appropriate state of preparedness and
resiliency.
As a major business unit within CenturyLink, the Network Operations
organization's Business Continuation program consists of both proactive and
reactive solutions depending on the operational and financial significance, and the
potential damage the incident may have on the CenturyLink brand, network and
customers. The ability to account for all types of disasters is not practical, so it is
important that our incident management processes be scalable for managing the
incident and communicating information. National Network Operations conducts
exercises annually, at a minimum, to validate plans and train people. Information
related to these exercises is proprietary to the Company.
The National Network Operations organization has established a business
continuation management framework that coordinates the identification and
assessment of potential business disruptions to locations, networks, applications,
and to the services we provide to our Customers. Included within this
management framework is listening to the needs of our Customers and where
appropriate, integrating their needs within our business continuation strategies.
Working closely with other major business units within the Company, the
management framework National Network Operations utilizes allows us to
prioritize and focus our resources on implementing cost effective risk optimization
solutions on those risks that could have the greatest impact to our Customers, our
Brand, our services and employees.
As a result of comprehensive business continuation planning, local and regional
incidents such as hurricanes, wide -scale power outages, etc., have had minimal
impact on our business operations and our customers. Our Business
Continuation efforts continue to identify and assess potential risks and develop
cost effective risk optimization solutions to assure the effects of significant
incidents are minimized to our Customers, our network, our Brand and our
employees.
The business continuity and emergency operations consists of two layers:
,. ..
