RFP 24-057

10.

11.

587-0702

8.

Provide heaters for air and water as needed for proper operation of the
biological treatment unit.
Minimum required airflow rate has been given. If fresh air dilution is required
for the proper functioning of the odor control system, the PROPONENT will
ensure the airflow given will be increased by that amount.
Provide stairs to access media surface on biofilters if media surface is above
grade.
All drains from a pressure area will include a trap with c1eanout. Trap will
contain a depth of water sufficient to prevent escape of foul air from the
system.

9.

B. Structure or vessel: All materials used in the structure or vessel will be inherently
corrosion resistant or will have a corrosion resistant coating. Design drawings for
structure(s) and vessel(s) will be sealed by a licensed engineer of the State of Texas.
Acceptable materials include:

I

1. High density polyethylene (HOPE);
2. Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) construction: Provide a gel coat on all
surfaces and UV inhibitor on all external surfaces. Comply with the
requirements of specification section 15160 - FRP Chemical Storage Tanks.
3. Portland Cement Concrete: If the PROPONENT proposes the use of
concrete basins to contain its media, the CITY will provide these basins. I
The anticipated cost to the CITY of providing these basins will be considered
in the evaluation of the PROPONENT's proposal;
4. Grade 316L stainless steel;
5. Hastelloy C;
6. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
7. Other materials may be utilized on a case-by-case basis subject to approval
by CITY and its engineer.
PROPONENT will evaluate the need for covering or enclosing the odor control unit
and provide a cover or enclosure if necessary. Evaluation will include ambient and
process temperatures and wind conditions. Media will be of sufficient size and
weight so as to not become airborne under windy conditions or a cover or
enclosure will be provided to retain media. If required, the cover or enclosure shall
be of materials listed as acceptable for the structure or vessel.

C. Blowers:

1.

A system with a minimum of three (3) blowers with VFDs, two (2) duty units
and one (1) standby unit is required for the odor control treatment system at
the WWTP. Remote systems will have a set of two (2) blowers one (1) duty
and one (1) standby. No VFDs are required for the remote system blowers.
All surfaces exposed to corrosive or treated airstream will utilize corrosion
resistant materials. Supplier is responsible for adequately sizing the blower
to meet the specified flow rates, considering the pressure loss through the
scrubber and duct system. The blower will be sized to overcome the loss
through the complete system including suction piping from the odor sources.
At the connection to the odor system ductwork, SUPPLIER will assume that

2.

11 065-9

I
