<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />94. <br /> <br />MINORITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />RECIT ALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council desires to enter into an amended contract with the San Marcos Hispanic <br />Chamber of Commerce for fiscal year 2004-2005 for professional services to promote orderly and <br />responsible minority economic development for the San Marcos geographic area. <br />2. This agreement is made by and between the City of San Marcos, Texas (the "City"), and <br />the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"). <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br /> <br />1. OBLlGA nONS OF THE CHAMBER <br /> <br />A. The Chamber will conduct and administer an economic development program which <br />has as its mission serving as a connection to local, national and international Hispanic markets to <br />stimulate economic development in the City of San Marcos. The Chamber shall accomplish this <br />mission through the following goals: <br />Goall: Retention and Expansion of Primary Employers <br /> <br />1. Visit a minimum of two existing primary private sector employers a minimum of once <br />a year. The meetings should discuss the employers' thoughts on business trends and <br />explore opportunities and obstacles related to the minority community. <br />2. Create a program for assistance of minority-owned small businesses and property <br />owners in reinvesting in their properties. <br />3. Create and conduct an annual workshop and training session focused on minority- <br />owned small business' topics related to how to work with City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />Goal2: Recruit Primary Employers <br /> <br />1. Create, review and revise annually with the City CouncIl a targeted mdustries list. The <br />Minority Economic and Tourism Development Board will conduct a workshop WIth <br />City Council to establish the targeted industries list. The Minority Economic and <br />Tourism Development Board will provide the City Council with a proposed targeted <br />industries list prior to the workshop. <br />2. Send out site location proposals and information packets to requesting entities within <br />three working days 90% of the time. <br />3. Meet with San Marcos Area Board of Realtors once per year to discuss development <br />opportunities and obstacles for minority-owned and operated businesses. <br />4. Maintain and regularly update a Minority Economic Development website that <br />provides pertinent economic information for web site users. <br />5. Actively involve the City's Mayor, City Council and City Manager in marketing <br />efforts and communication with prospects. <br /> <br />1 <br />
