<br />I <br /> <br />******** <br /> <br />Freewav means a divided arterial highway designed with full control of access <br />and grade separation at all intersections. Freeways provide movement of high volumes of <br />traffic at relatively high speeds. This system carries most of the trips entering and leaving <br />the city. as well as most of the through movement by-passing the central city. <br /> <br />******** <br /> <br />Parkwav means a freeway which does not have continuous frontage roads. <br />Parkways have a green space buffer between the roadway and adjacent development. <br />Parkways preserve and enhance the natural landscape as much as possible. <br /> <br />********* <br /> <br />Street means a public right-of-way that provides primary vehicular access to <br />adjacent land, whether designated as a street, highway, thoroughfare, parkway, <br />throughway, avenue, lane, boulevard, road, place, drive or however otherwise designated. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(1) Street, arterial means a thoroughfare designated as a freeway, expressway, <br />major arterial or minor arterial in the most recently adopted city thoroughfare <br />plan. The primary function of an arterial is to carry traffic through the city, and an <br />arterial is designed for as high a speed as possible, to carry as much traffic as <br />possible. Also knovm as a major thoroughfare. <br /> <br />(1 ) Street, arterial, means a major arterial street or a minor arterial street. <br /> <br />(2) Street, commerciallmultifamilv collector means a street to serve as <br />principal access to commercial or multi-family developments. Large vehicles such <br />as delivery trucks utilize these streets. Driveway access is limited to accommodate <br />higher traffic volumes and larger vehicles. On-street parking is restricted on these <br />streets. Multifamily developments can front on these roads. provided adequate <br />off-street parking is available. Typically. multifamily developments, schools. <br />local retail developments and public facilities are located adjacent to <br />commercial/multi-family collector streets. <br /> <br />(2) Street, collector means u street '.vhich primarily carries traffic from local <br />or residential streets to major thoroughfares and highways, including the principal <br />entrance streets for circulation to schools, parks and other community facilities <br />within the development, and also including all streets that carry traffic through or <br />adjacent to commercial or industrial areas. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(3) Street, frontage means a local street lying parallel to and adjoining a major <br />street right of 'Nay, '.vhich provides access to abutting properties. <br /> <br />3 <br />
