<br />paragraph 7.1.1, the CONSULTANT shall perform engineering <br />services for General Administration of Construction as <br />follows: <br /> <br />2.4.1 Assist the OWNER In the advertisement of the <br />PROJECT for bids. <br /> <br />2.4.2 Assist the OWNER in the opening and tabulation <br />of bids for construction of the PROJECT, and consult with <br />the OWNER as to the proper action to be taken, based on <br />the engineering considerations involved. <br /> <br />2.4.3 Assist in the preparation of formal construction <br />Contract Documents. <br /> <br />2.4.4 Make periodic visits to the site of the con- <br />struction to observe, as an experienced and qualified design <br />professional, the progress and quality of the construction <br />work and to determine, in general, if the results of the <br />construction work are in accordance with the drawings and <br />specifications. In performing these services, the <br />CONSULTANT will endeavor to guard the OWNER against apparent <br />defects and deficiencies in the permanent work constructed <br />by the contractor, but he does not guarantee the performance <br />of the contractoriprovided, however, CONSULTANT shall give <br />immediate written notice to OWNER of any deficiencies in <br />the work actually detected by CONSULTANT. The CONSULTANT <br />shall not be required to make exhaustive onsite obser- <br />vations to check the quality or quantity of the construction <br />work. The CONSULTANT is not responsible for construction <br />means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures, time <br />of performance, programs, or for any safety precautions <br />in connection with the construction work. The CONSULTANT <br />is not responsible for the contractor's failure to execute <br />the work in accordance with the construction contract. <br /> <br />2.4.5 Consult and advise with the OWNER; issue all <br />instructions to the contractor requested by the OWNER; <br />and prepare routine change orders as required. <br /> <br />2.4.6 Review samples, catalog data, schedules, shop <br />drawings laboratory, shop and mill tests of material and <br />equipment and other data which the contractor submits. <br />This review is for the benefit of the OWNER and covers <br />only general compliance with the information given by <br />the contract documents. CONSULTANT shall not be held <br />responsible for items of work of the contractor such as <br />dimensions to be confirmed and correlated at the job site, <br />appropriate safety measures to protect workers and the <br />public, or the necessity to construct a complete and <br />workable facility in accordance with the contract <br />documents. <br /> <br />-5- <br />
