This task will pro-
duce a basic xacility development program in terms of space
required, functional considerations, movement of aircraft,
alr space and operational consideratlons such as runways
required, levels of aircraft activity, etc.

The facility requirements will be identified for airport
purposes only, and will not incluJe any assessment of faci-
lity re~uircm0nts for other purposes, i.e., the Gary Job
Center or municlpal functions unrelated to aviation.

Upon completlon of this task, the generalized acreage re-
quired for injtial and ultimate airport development wjll be
known. Meteorological and climatological data will be analyzed
to confirm the most favorable orientation for flight traffic,
runway instrumentation, navigation aids, lighting and other
essential airfield facilities.
