<br />h) Prepare bid forms, notice to bidders, <br />instructions to bidders, general <br />conditions and supplementary conditions, <br />and assist in the preparation of other <br />related documents. <br /> <br />i) Furnish five (5) copies of approved <br />contract drawings and specifications to <br />City. All sets of plans in excess of <br />twenty (20) shall be paid for separately. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3. Bidding Phase <br /> <br />After written authorization to proceed with the <br />biddinq, Engineer shall: <br /> <br />a) Prepare a bid tabulation sheet. <br /> <br />b) Investigate prospective bidders and prepare <br />a recommendation regarding award of the <br />contract. <br /> <br />4. Construction Phase <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />a) Make periodic visits to the site to observe <br />as an experienced and qualified design pro- <br />fessional, the progress and quality of the <br />executed work and to determine in general <br />if the work is proceeding in accordance with <br />the plans and specifications. Engineer shall <br />not be required to make exhaustive or continu- <br />ous on-site inspections to check the quality <br />or quantity of the work. Engineer shall not <br />be responsible for the means, methods, tech- <br />niques, sequences or procedures of construction <br />selected by the contractor or the safety pre- <br />cautions and programs incident to the work of <br />the contractor. Engineer's efforts will be <br />directed towards providing assurance for the <br />owner that the completed project will conform <br />to the plans and specifications, but Engineer <br />shall not be responsible for the failure of <br />the contractor to perform the construction <br />work in accordance with the plans and specifi- <br />cations and the contractor's contract, as long <br />as Engineer shall report to the City any defi- <br />ciencies in the work actually detected by Engineer. <br />During such visits and on the basis of on-site <br />observations, Engineer shall consult and advise <br />with City during construction and submit to <br />City periodic reports on progress of construction <br />when such reports are requested by City. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />b) Review and approve Shop Drawings (as that term <br />is defined in the Standard General Conditions <br />of the Construction Contract National Society <br />of Professional Engineers document 19l0-8, 1974 <br />edition) and samples, the results of tests and <br />inspections and other data which any contractor <br />is required to submit, but only for conformance <br />with the design concept of the Improvements and <br />compliance with the in5ormation given in the <br />contract documents; determine the acceptability <br />of substitute materials and equipment proposed <br />by contractor(s); and receive and review (for <br />general content as required by the specifications) <br />maintenance and operating instructions, schedules, <br />guarantees, bonds and certificates of inspection <br />which are to be assembled by Contractor(s) in <br />accordance with the contract documents. <br /> <br />3 <br />
