6) Remove sutures and conduct post- surgical follow -up of adopted pets performed at <br />the Veterinarian's facility at no cost to the City or the pet owner; and <br />7) Prescribe post operative pain medication. <br />b) Provide Services in conjunction with special events such as the City's Spay Day <br />event. <br />1.1.6 Vaccinate animals for rabies as follows: <br />a) Administer rabies vaccinations to shelter animals over three months of age in <br />accordance with accepted rabies vaccination protocol and issue a separate vaccination <br />certificate to each animal's owner; <br />b) Administer rabies vaccinations during the City's rabies vaccination clinic up to twice <br />a year or as needed in case of a rapid increase in the incidence of rabies in the <br />community; and. <br />c) Administer rabies vaccinations to animals reclaimed by owners who cannot provide <br />proof of vaccination at time of reclamation. If the Veterinarian is not at the Shelter, <br />the animal will be transported to the Veterinarian's facility for this service. <br />1.1.7 Follow up care. <br />a) Refer animals to a clinic or full service veterinarian facility for further treatment as <br />necessary. <br />b) Follow up and continue care as needed for all sick and injured shelter animals; and <br />c) Diagnose sick or injured shelter animals and advise as to the need for more intense <br />medical care at a veterinary facility. <br />1.1.8 Disposition of animals; <br />a) Provide recommendation for the disposition of companion animals based on the <br />medical and /or physical condition of the animal; and <br />b) Provide training to City staff on related veterinary methods and practices as needed or <br />required. <br />1.1.9 Maintain a Drug Enforcement Administration ( "DEA ") registration number and <br />Veterinarian License and monitor all records concerning controlled substances including all logs <br />associated with the controlled substances used by the Veterinarian; <br />3 <br />
