106. <br />Regular Meeting October 4, 2005 Page 8 <br />for the new Economic Development Board to be established by Ordinance. He <br />stated the Ordinance is proposed to be adopted on emergency so that the <br />Board Members can be appointed at the next Regular Meeting scheduled for <br />October 18, 2005, which would allow the Board to begin coordinating the <br />provision of services with Global Marketeer Group. The Council voted <br />unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration reconsideration of a Zoning <br />Ordinance. The Council did not wish to reconsider this Ordinance. The <br />caption reads as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM LOW DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL TO HIGH DENSITY RESIDENTIAL FOR A 1.614 ACRE, MORE OR <br />LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT 225 RAMSAY STREET; AMENDING THE <br />OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING THIS TRACT FROM "R-1" <br />SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) TO "MF-18" MULTIPLE- <br />FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the <br />caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />NOMINATING A CANDIDATE FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE HAYS COUNTY <br />APPRAISAL DISTRICT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved for adoption of the Resolution nominating Daniel <br />Guerrero as the candidate for the Board of Directors of the Hays County <br />Appraisal District, and Mr. Diaz seconded the motion. On roll call for <br />adoption of the Resolution nominating Daniel Guerrero as the candidate for <br />the Board of Directors of the Hays County Appraisal District, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Diaz, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Thomaides, Bose and Taylor. <br />NAY: None. <br />ABSTAIN: Guerrero. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding City Council direction of <br />future agenda items. 1) Mr. Thomaides stated he would like to hold a <br />discussion regarding entities who want to remove properties from the tax <br />rolls. 2) Mr. Thomaides stated he would like to hold a discussion <br />regarding the City's disaster and evacuation plans for the citizens of San <br />Marcos. 3) Mr. Thomaides stated he would like to hold a discussion <br />regarding the catch and release program for animals. 4) Mr. Taylor stated <br />he would like to agendize an update on the Wonder World Drive bike path,
