The <br />Hays County Emergency Plan provided valuable infonnation to the Mitigation Planning <br />Committee during the planning process to develop the Hays County Mitigation Action Plan. <br /> <br />COMMUNITY SPECIFIC INFORMATION <br /> <br />Description of County <br />Hays County is hilly in the west, blackland in the east and located on the edge of the Balcones <br />Escarpment. The major streams that flow through Hays County include Pedemales River, <br />Onion Creek, Blanco River and the San Marcos River. <br /> <br />Transportation I <br />Interstate Highway IH-35 extends through the County from north to south connecting Austin to <br />San Antonio.
