<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />November 21, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />Thomaides moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Mr. Jones <br />I seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a public hearing and consideration of adoption of <br />an Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM INDUSTRIAL TO <br />COMMERCIAL FOR A 3.1 ACRE, MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT 2030 <br />IH-35 SOUTHj AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING <br />THIS TRACT FROM "HI" HEAVY INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO "GC" GENERAL <br />COMMERCIAL DISTRICTj INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONSj AND PROVIDING <br />FOR PENALTIES. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. Mr. <br />Guerrero moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Ms. Couch seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Jones stated he is concerned with changing property from <br />Heavy Industrial zoning along that IH35. Mr. Jones requested that the <br />Planning and Development Department provide a map with industrial zoning. <br />The Council then voted unanimously for the Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />I Mayor Narvaiz introduced a public hearing and consideration of adoption of <br />an Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM LOW DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL TO MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL FOR A 0.23 ACRE, MORE OR <br />LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT 531 WEST HOPKINS STREET; AMENDING THE <br />OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING THIS TRACT FROM "SF-4.5" <br />SINGLE FAMILY DISTRICT TO "MF-12" MULTIPLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL <br />DISTRICTj INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONSj AND PROVIDING FOR <br />PENALTIES. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing, and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. Not one did so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. Mr. Bose <br />moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Ms. Couch seconded the <br />motion. Mayor Narvaiz stated the Planning and Zoning Commission denied <br />this rezoning request. She stated for this rezoning to pass it will take a <br />super majority. Mr. Jones moved to table the Zoning Ordinance indefinitely, <br />and Mr. Guerrero seconded the motion. Mr. Jones and Mr. Guerrero both <br />withdrew their motions.
