<br /> 1,7 Task 6 - Develop Education/Promotion Programs <br /> <br /> For each collection event, the Consultant will: <br /> 1.7.1 Contact newspapers for donated advertising space and to encourage articles on the <br /> event and household hazardous waste management in general. <br /> 1.7.2 Contact local schools and community centers for education/promotion opportunities. <br /> 1.7.3 Attend any community gathering that might be appropriate for distribution of <br /> promotional materials. <br /> 1.7.4 Contact other programs such as the Lower Colorado River Authority's to obtain <br /> educational materials. <br /> 1.7.5 Order household hazardous waste materials for adults and children. <br /> 1.7.6 Distribute educational materials to local schools for grades 1-12. <br /> 1.7.7 Develop participant packets, which include household hazardous wheels, non-toxic <br /> cleaning samples, information on other recycling opportunities in the community, and <br /> helpful hints on alternatives to hazardous products. <br /> 1.7.8 Print and distribute banners, signs, and posters notifying the public of each <br /> upcoming event. <br /> 1.7.9 Develop and submit newspaper ads in local papers. <br /> 1.7.10 Mail out flyers to customers in utility districts, water districts, communities, etc. <br /> 1,8 Task 7 - Conduct Collection Events <br /> <br /> For each collection event, the Consultant will: <br /> 1.8.1 Notify emergency officials of the date and time of each event. <br /> 1.8.2 Obtain commitments for the following: <br /> (a) tent rental <br /> (b) forklift <br /> (c) roll-off <br /> (d) port-o-Iet <br /> (e) recyclers for oil, oil filters, antifreeze, batteries, tires <br /> (f) volunteers to work on event day. <br /> 4 <br />
