<br /> for criminal prosecution. <br /> <br /> (d) Reports. studies. The commission may provide reports to the city council <br /> reoardino the nature and extent of discriminatory housing practices in the city. or <br /> recommendino leoislative or other action to carry out the purposes of this article. <br /> (e) Cooperation with other entities. The commission shall cooperate with and <br /> provide technical and other assistance to federal. state. local. and other public or private <br /> entities that are formulating or operatino proorams to prevent or eliminate discriminatory <br /> housino practices. <br /> <br /> (f) Witnesses and information. The commission may invite witnesses. administer <br /> oaths. and request information from witnesses and interested parties in aid of investigations <br /> and hearinos under this article. <br /> <br /> Sec. 46.051. 46.052. Complaints. <br /> <br /> <br /> (a) Any person who claims to have been injured... or who believes he or she will be <br /> irrevocably injured... by a discriminatory housing practice may file a complaint with the fair <br /> housing officer. The complaint shall be in viTiting and shall identify the person alleged to <br /> have committed or is about to commit a discriminatory housing practice and shall set forth <br /> particulars thereof. <br /> (b) A complaint must be: <br /> <br /> ill in writing; <br /> 0 under oath: <br /> m in the form prescribed by the commission; and <br /> ill filed within 180 days after the alleged discriminatory housino practice <br /> occurred. <br /> (bç) The fair housing officer shall receive and accept notification and referral of <br /> complaints from the state and federal oovernments Secretary of I lousing and Urban <br /> Development pursuant to title VIII, fair I lousing Act of 1968, rL 90 284, and shall treat <br /> these complaints in the same manner as complaints filed directly by the complainant person <br /> aggrieved. <br /> <br /> (eg) The fair housino officer may, in the officer's discretion, allow a complaint to be <br /> supplemented or amended. If, in the course of any im¡estigation as pfcuided in section <br /> 46.054, on a complaint filed "Mth or referred to the fair housing officer, the fair housing <br /> officer recei"tes credible evidence and has probable cause to believe that a person named <br /> in the complaint has committed a discriminatory housing practice on grounds not stated in <br /> the complaint, the fair housing officer may prepare and file a supplemental complaint ivith <br /> the commission, and any supplemental complaint shall thereafter be treated in the same <br /> manner as an original complaint filed by a person aggrieved. <br /> (~) Upon the filing or referral of any complaint, the fair housing officer shall~ <br /> furnish a copy of the complaint to the person named in the complaint. <br /> ( 1) give the complainant notice that the complaint has been received: <br /> (2) advise the complainant of the time limits and choice of forums under state law. <br /> and <br /> (3) serve on each respondent within 20 days after the filino of the complaint or the <br /> identification of an additional respondent under section 46.046: <br /> (A) a notice identifying the alleoed discriminatory housing practice and <br /> <br /> 4 <br />
