(The crew's responsibilities should be clearly defined.) <br /> <br />Maintaining Disaster Supply Kits and making sure additional supplies are on the way. <br /> <br />Being available to the Disaster Recovery Team and to the overall recovery operation to <br />answer questions, to initiate subsequent phases of the recovery operation, and to determine <br />other remedial steps. <br /> <br />Ensuring that Team members do not enter a facility until permission is granted by appropriate <br />emergency personnel. <br /> <br />(The Assistant Team Chairman is responsible for the Team Chairman's duties in his/her <br />absence). <br /> <br />Section 5. Stabilization of Environment <br /> <br />The environment must be stabilized within 48-72 hours to prevent the growth of mold. <br /> <br />Departmental Staff are responsible for the following actions: <br /> <br />a) Contact the Finance Department to obtain emergency funding account. <br /> <br />b) Obtain pumps for removal of large quantities of standing water, if necessary. <br />(Extreme caution must be taken, as standing water can conceal hazards). <br /> <br />c) Use portable generators in case of power failure. <br /> <br />d) Run fans constantly to circulate air and expel humidity from the area. <br /> <br />e) Use thermometers or hygrometers to work toward attaining the ideal condition of <br />650 F. <br /> <br />f) Dehumidifiers can help lower the humidity, however, they are usually only <br />effective in small, enclosed areas; they tend to increase temperature in a room, <br />and they can also freeze up in the lower temperatures required for salvage and <br />recovery operations. Temperature and humidity should be monitored <br />constantly. <br /> <br />Emergency Management Coordinator will be responsible for the following actions: <br /> <br />a) Spell out the dangers associated with disaster recovery. <br /> <br />b) Electrical shock hazards. <br /> <br />c) The handling of file cabinets that have been damaged by fire and that have <br /> <br />Page 23 <br />
