Continue the testing, repair, and replacônent of \vater meters as well as leak detection
efforts in order to reduce unaccounted for \vater to between 15 and 18 percent;
. Meters are read and the quantities are recorded once per month, with billings made
monthly to residential and commercial customers.
<
5.0 \V A TER SUPPLY OPERÁ. TION PLAN
In anticipation of the condition that pumping limits may be placed on all users of
Edwards Aquifer water, including the City, San i\-farcos will follow the regulatory procedures set
forth to acquire pumping permits. Once the terms and conditions of Edwards Aquifer pumping
permits and TNRCC surface \vater diversion permits are kno\vn, then San Marcos can develop a
specific water supply operation plan for the City's combined ground and surface water systems.
The operation plan will address \vays to obtain maximum advantage from Edwards Aquifer and
surface water sources, at a reasonable cost, considering risk and reliability of supply, and other
factors, as appropriate.
6.0 \VATER CONSERVATION PLAN
The San Marcos Water Conservation Plan includes: I) public information and education;
2) plumbing fixture retrofit; 3) water conservation rates; 4) universal metering and meter repair
and replacement schedule; 5) leak detection and repair; 6) water conservation landscaping; and 7)
reuse. Each water conservation element is described below.
,1
-r
