lfttE
-
THIS PAGE SUPERSEDES PAGE A6 AS FOUND IN THE GUIDE FOR
INSTRUCTIONS AND NOMINATION FORM - REVISED 1-12-96
PART IX, PAGE 5 - COMM1JNITY INVOLVEMENT
The nomination must include documentation that demonstrates public support for the project. In
the space provided on page 5 of the nomination form., describe public meetings or opportunities
afforded to the public to participate in selection or endorsement of the candidate project. In
addition, the nomination must include a resolution or other official document of support ITom a
governing body with jurisdiction over any area in which project activities will take place. This
documentation is discussed in Part XII on page 8 of the nomination form.
Letters of support should be.addressed to the sponsor or nominating entity. Massive letter
writing campaigns to TxDOT may delay the processing of the nomination and may adversely
affect the evaluation and selection process.
PART X, PAGE 6 - PROJECT SCHEDULE AND BUDGET .¡
Budget considerations are very important. An accurate and precise budget will help define the
scope of work proposed in your project. Up to 80% of planning, design, engineering,
construction and administration costs are reimbursable by the federal government upon issuance
of a federal letter of authorization. A minimum of 20% of these costs must be supplied by the
local community. There is no state money in the program. This is NOT a grant program; this is
a federal reimbursement program administered by TxDOT.
t In planning your budget, talk with architects, design~rs, engineers, contractors, and other
appropriate individuals. These individuals can help you design a budget that accurately reflects
, the true cost of your project.
If your project is selected tor implementation, the amount of federal funds awarded cannot be
augmented if the project proves more expensive than originally planned. All cost overruns must
be supplied by local sources. Additional funds cannot be allocated by the state or federal
government to complete the project. The outline given on page 6 of the nomination form has
been designed to assist you in planning your budget.
Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program Page A6
