<br /> ( 7"ilC- <br /> -4- <br />Sec. 16-25. Redemption of impounded property. <br />The owner or any person legally entitled to possession of any impounded <br />property may redeem it as follows: <br />(1 ) Before sale, by paying to the city or the impoun~ing agency the fees <br /> set under Section 16-24. <br />(2) After sale, by paying to the buyer 1 1/3 times the amount paid for the <br /> property, and any reasonable expenses incurred by the buyer for <br /> keeping it; provided, that the property must be redeemed within 30 <br /> days after the date of the sale, or title to the property becomes <br /> absolute in the buyer. <br />Sec. 16-26. Authority to sell. <br />Any impounded property not redeemed within 90 days after being impounded <br />may be sold by the city manager, or a designee, in the manner provided by this <br />division. <br /> , <br />Sec. 16-27. Notice of sale. <br />(a) The city or the impoundment agency will provide notice under this <br />section at least 14 days before selling any impounded property. <br />(b) The notice will include: <br /> (1 ) a description of the property; <br /> (2) the names, if known, of the owner and any lienholders of the <br /> property; <br /> (3) a statement that the property will be sold if not redeemed within <br /> 30 days; <br /> (4) a statement that the property may be redeemed for a period of <br /> 30 days after the sale; and, <br /> (5) the date, time, place and manner of the sale. <br />(c) The notice will be given: <br /> (1) by certified mail to the owner and any lienholders, if their <br /> names and addresses are known; or <br /> (2) by posting near the main entrance to city hall, and by <br /> publication twice in a newspaper of general circulation in the <br /> city, <br />Sec. 16-28. Procedure for selling impounded property. <br />(a) When any impounded property is not redeemed by the time of sale <br />designated in the notice of sale, the property will be sold in an open, competitive <br />manner as determined by the city manager, and a bill of sale for the property will <br />be executed to the purchaser. <br />
