if) 7 rr
LIBRARY BOARD
Sunset Observation: Business on the agenda was conducted in a
professional manner and decisions were made that would be fair to
the public. The group works well together. Most of the meeting
was conducted by the staff liaison. Most of their discussion was
on the use of the large meeting room.
i Sunset recommendations: None
l
MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
Observation: This board was most active in promoting and
sponsoring downtown activities that proved to be highly successful
during the year. Staff written reports were presented in a very
thorough and comprehensive manner along with minutes of the
meetings. The atmosphere of the meeting was rather informal with
a lot of open discussion on planning for scheduled events. This
tone provided a comfortable setting for members to enjoy a very
productive meeting. Board members possess a st;:nse of commitment
to actively participate and support the planned downtown events.
Workload for the manager's office appears to be very extensive
with no clerical or secretarial support. .
Sunset recommendation: The budget for the Main Street Manager's
office be increased for the next fiscal year- to include a full
time secretary or clerical position to support the extensive
workload of this office. This action will provide more time for
the manager to monitor and supervise the many activities that are
programmed during the year.
1 for members serving on this board
The meeting attendance records
-'--- during the CY 94 reflected average. of sixty percent present;
an
therefore, it is recommended that the meeting schedule be changed
or greater emphasis be directed on the importance of attendance at
each meeting. The Main Street Advisory Board continues to be a
very active board and provides a highly valuable service for the
downtown area of San Marcos and the entire community.
PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
Observation: Written reports from the Parks and Recreation
Department staff describing the sponsored activities for the
months of November and December 1994 were mailed to board members
with an agenda prior to meeting. This is a change from previous
meeting in that staff presented verbal reports.
Chairperson stated that goals/objectives for CY95 had been
developed by the City Council and staff and were to be discussed
during the next meeting in February.
\
~
