Conduct an i nforma 1 workshop to
identify potential changes which could reduce the cost of ,the facilities or
increase the value of the facilities by more than the cost of the changes.
Present selected alternatives for more detailed evaluation. The detailed
evaluation will consider cost, ability to implement the changes, technical
analysis and the impact of changes on the overall project. Ideas which
pass the technical and economic analysis, and merit incorporation into the
design of the project will be presented as a proposal to the designer and
the City for consideration in a draft report. The Design Consultants.
response will be included in the final report.
Deliverables include a draft' and final value engineering recommendation
report.
4.02 Constructability Reviews
Review construction contract documents for each construction project at the
preliminary report milestone and the 95% design milestone for
constructability, abil ity to operate and maintain facil iti es after
construction, ability of the existing facilities to remain in operation
during construction and the coordination of construction details.
a. Prel iminary report review. Review the prel iminary design report
prepared by the Design Consultant for each construction project, which
is to include locations of the faci 1 iti es, prel iminary equipment
selections, and rough layout of equipment. The revi ew wi 11 provide
suggestions to improve the ability to:
1. Operate and maintain proposed equipment and the completed facility.
2. Assess construction impact on integrity of existing facilities.
3. Assess impact on the abi 1 ity to keep the current facilities in
operation.
4. Determine need to pre-purchase or pre-select equipment.
5. Allocate risk for construction.
6. Assess impacts on anticipated future facilities as identified in the
documents.
Prepare a report on observations made with recommendations for
improvements where appropriate.
R:\CS80\SMIIC,OOC
Exhi bit B - 12
