<br />/;-oP <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Review the data gathered and prepare a Biological Evaluation of <br />whether or not the WWTP "may affect" the protected species. <br /> <br />The USFWS, EP A, and the City will be consulted throughout the process <br />for guidance and advice to insure the study is completed ,in a manner satisfactory <br />to all parties involved, while at the same time exercising fiscal prudence., <br />1.2.1 Task 1 - Background Informatlon'Retrleval <br />Previously published materials relating to the darter and rice wHl be <br />collected and reviewed. A computerized library search will be made for <br />appropriate information. The subjects for information retrieval will center on <br />historical and current attributes of the distribution, abundance, and population <br />characteristics of both species, vegetation distribution, habitat availability, and <br />parameters relating to water quality in the San Marcos River and Edwards <br />Aquifer. Other potential sources for existing data will include agency publications <br />and reports, especially those from the EP A, the USFWS ami the TX PWD, that <br />mayor may not be found by computerized searching. Agencies will be contacted <br />directly to discover information availability, particularly with regard to individuals <br />that may have unpublished data. In person consultations win be <arranged with <br />these individuals in the San Marcos/Austin vicinity during the Task 2 site visit: <br />Other individuals will be interviewed by telephone. In addition, relevant <br />information will be gathered from the WWTP as it relates to the perceived <br />problem. <br />It should be noted that some individuals may not be willing to release the <br />results of their unpublished research. Under such circumstances, neither the City <br />of San Marcos nor Black & Veatch will be held accountable for such information <br />that might impact the final opinions resulting from this work. <br />The City will provide Black & Veatch with all available current and <br />historical data related to water quality testing at the WWTP. <br />1.2.2 Task 2 - Site Review/ConsultatIons <br />At the completion of Task 1, a site visit will be made to San Marcos by two <br />B&V environmental scientists. The purpose of the trip will be to familiarize the <br />investigators with the characteristics of the San Marcos River, especially with <br />respect to habitat availability and location of point and possible nonpoint sources <br />of pollution.
