Sampling Procedures. <br /> <br />Control authority means the director of water and wastewater utilities or other official designated <br />by the city manager, or that person's duly authorized representative, as long as the city has an <br />approved pretreatment program; in the absence of an approved pretreatment program, the term <br />shall mean the approval authority. <br /> <br />Cooling water means the water discharged from a system of condensation, including air <br />conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration systems. <br /> <br />Director means the director of the water and wastewater department or other official designated <br />by the city manager, or the director's authorized representative, including the water quality <br />supervisor, unless otherwise specified. <br /> <br />Drainage water means stormwater; roof runoff water; subsurface and subsoil uncontaminated <br />drainage water; drainage from dovmspouts; water from yard drains; water from fountains, ponds <br />and swimming pools; water fi'om lawn sprays, rainwater leaders, and areaways, and overflows <br />from cisterns and water tanks. <br /> <br />EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) means the U.S. Enviromneutal Protection Agency, or, <br />where appropriate, the tern~ may also be used as a designation for the admin/strator or other duly <br />authorized official of that agency. <br /> <br />Garbage means solid waste f~om domestic or commercial preparation, cooking, dispensing or <br />manufacturing of food or from the handling, storage and sale of produce. <br /> <br />Grab sample memos a sample that is taken from a waste stream on a one-thx~e basis over a period <br />of time not to exceed 15 minutes with no regard to the flow in the waste stream and without <br />consideration of time as defined in Appendix E 40 CFR Part 403, Sampling Procedures. <br /> <br />Grease trap means a receptacle, structure, or a mechanical device used by a generator to <br />intercept, collect, separate, and restrict the passage of free and emulsified fat, oil, grease, organic, <br />inorganic, greasy or fatty liquid, semi-liquid, semi solid, or solid waste from wastewater prior <br />to discharge to the POTW. <br /> <br />Hazardous waste means those substances that, if othetwvise disposed of, would be hazardous <br />waste as set forth in 40 CFR 261. <br /> <br />Haul hold tank means a storage tank installed by the customer to hold industrial waste which is <br />prohibited from being discharged to the sanitary sewer and from which the contents must be <br />hauled to a disposal site. <br /> <br />Holding tank waste means any waste from holding tanks including vessels, chemical toilets, <br />campers, trailers, septic tanks and vacuum pump tank trucks. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
