The recipient shall submit one copy of all reports and <br />proposed publications resulting from this grant 20 days <br />prior to public release. Any publications (including <br />written, visual, or sound, but excluding press releases, <br />newsletters, and issue analyses), whether published at the <br />recipient's or Government's expense, shall contain the <br />following statement: <br /> <br />"This document was prepared by the city of S~n Marcos Police <br />Department, supported by Grant Number 95DMBX0266, awarded by <br />the u.S. Department of Justice. The opinions, findings, and <br />conclusions or recommendations expressed in this document <br />are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent <br />the official position or policies of the U.S. Department of <br />Justice." <br /> <br />5. The project and budget periods shown in #5 on the Award <br />document are for three years from the date of the award. If <br />the process for recruiting and training new officers results <br />in a delay in swearing in the additional officers hired with <br />grant funds and extra time is needed to fully implement the <br />program, the recipient may request an extension of the <br />project and budget periods. The written request must <br />indicate the proposed end date, justify the need for the <br />extension, and be sent to the COPS Office, 633 Indiana <br />Avenue, NW, 3rd Floor, Washington, D.C. 20531. No <br />additional funds will be awarded. <br /> <br />6. The COPS office may conduct a national evaluation of the <br />community Oriented Policing services (COPS) Program. The <br />recipient agrees to cooperate with the evaluators, as <br />requested. <br /> <br />7. The Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program <br />provides an opportunity for the Department of Justice (DOJ), <br />and state and local law enforcement agencies to work <br />together to ensure compliance with federal civil rights <br />laws. To enable DOJ and the recipient law enforcement <br />agency to work together effectively, the recipient must <br />provide the following information to the Office of civil <br />OJP FORM 4000/2 (REV. 5-87) PREVIOUS EDITIONS ARE OBSOLETE. <br />
