The authority for these requests is 28 CFR 42.106. <br /> a. During the past five years, has there been a judicial or <br /> administrative finding against the recipient law enforcement <br /> agency for a violation of a federal, state or local law <br /> prohibiting discrimination in employment or in the provision <br /> of services? If so, please provide copies of any judgment, <br /> order, consent decree or conciliation agreement relating to <br /> such finding. <br /> b. Provide a description of the geographic area served by <br /> the law enforcement agency; an estimated break-down of the <br /> . . . . <br /> populat10n served by the reclp1ent law enforcement agency by <br /> race and national origin, and an estimate of the proportion <br /> of the population served which is non-English speaking. <br /> c. For the current work force of sworn personnel in the <br /> recipient law enforcement agency, provide a summary of the <br /> race, gender, and national origin for all officers. Please <br /> note that, under the violent Crime Control and Law <br /> Enforcement Act of 1994, COPS grant recipients are required <br /> "to the extent practicable, seek, recruit, and hire members <br /> of racial and ethnic minority groups and women in order to <br /> increase their ranks within the sworn positions in the law <br />- <br /> enforcement agency." <br /> 8. The funding under this project is for the total number of <br /> officers requested in the application OR the number of <br /> officers determined in subsequent negotiations with the COPS <br /> Office, and may be used to pay only SALARIES AND APPROVED <br /> FRINGE BENEFITS for up to three years after the off~cer is <br /> sworn in. Funds under this project may only be used for <br /> sworn entry level, lateral transfers, or rehired officers. <br /> Federal grant funds may not be used to pay costs such as <br /> overtime, training, weapons.and ammunition, communication <br /> equipment, or vehicles. The recipient agrees to use the <br /> grant funds to supplement, not supplant, existing funds. <br /> 9. The grant may be terminated, in whole or in part, at any <br /> time before the date of completion, by the Department of <br /> Justice for the recipient's failure to comply with these <br /> terms and conditions, with any of the Assurances submitted <br /> with the application or with the project goals, plans, and <br /> OJP FORM 4000/2 (REV. 5-87) PREVIOUS EDITIONS ARE OBSOLETE. <br />
