A maintenance person <br /> who performs such work upon the property of <br /> more than one person lS deemed to be <br /> performing plumbing work for the general <br /> public and must be a State-licensed plumber. <br /> Sec. 5-42. Water Conservation. <br /> The water conservation performance standards established <br /> under Chapter 372 of the Texas Health and Safety Code and <br /> under regulations issued by the Texas Water Commission or <br /> Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission shall apply <br /> to all new and replacement plumbing work subject to this <br /> Article. <br /> Sec. 5-43. Amendments to Standard Plumbing Code. <br /> The Plumbing Code adopted by Section 5-40 is amended as <br /> set out in this Section. <br /> Chapter 1 is deleted. <br /> ~ <br /> 407.1 is amended bv renumberinq the existinq paraqraph as <br /> 407.1.1, and ~the addition of 407.1.2 and 407.1.3 as <br /> follows: <br /> 407.1.2. Pipes passing through framing members that will <br /> be within 1 1/4 inch from the nearest edge of a nailing <br /> surface must be protected from penetration by nails <br /> and/or screws. Such protection shall be obtained by a <br /> steel plate or busing of at least 1/16 inch thick, and of <br /> appropriate length and width installed to cover the area <br /> of the piping. . <br /> 407.1.3. . Contact between piping of dissimilar metals <br /> likely to cause electrochemical corrosion, such as copper <br /> and steel, shall be avoided by the use of appropriate <br /> insulating material. <br /> 407.4 is amended to read as follows: <br /> 407.4 Freezing. <br /> Water, soil, or waste pipes shall not be installed or <br /> permitted outside of a building, or concealed in outside <br /> walls or in any place where they may be subjected to <br /> freezing temperature, unless adequate provision is made <br /> to protect them from freezing. Water service pipe shall <br /> not be installed less than twelve inches deep.
