<br /> J J-~ U <br /> -22- <br /> (1) To enforce the provisions of this Article and to <br /> bring before the electrical board complaints against persons <br /> who violate any of its provisions; <br /> (2) To enter any building or premises at any reasonable <br /> time with the knowledge of the owner or custodian to examine <br /> any electrical wiring or installation of electrical wiring, <br /> fixtures, or equipment; <br /> (3) To order the electric service disconnected when <br /> improper or defective wiring exists or where electrical <br /> construction or equipment has been installed without a <br /> permi t only after notifying the responsible parties and <br /> giving them sufficient time to correct the problem; <br /> ( 4) To order compliance with this Article where a change <br /> of use occurs in a building which requires changes or <br /> alterations to existing wiring; <br /> (5) To disconnect electrical service in cases of <br /> emergency where necessary for safety of persons or property <br /> or where electrical equipment may interfere with the work of <br /> the Fire Department; <br /> ~ <br /> (6) To attach to electrical equipment or electrical <br /> meters any official notice or seal to prevent the unlawful <br /> use of electricity. <br /> (7) To order any person to cease doing any work in <br /> violation of this Article; and, <br /> (8) Any other duties set forth in this Article or which <br /> may be reasonably necessary to implement the provisions of <br /> this Article. <br /> , <br /> Sec. 5-148 to 5-150. Reserved. <br /> Division 4. Licensing. <br /> Sec. 5-151. Requirement of license. <br /> It is unlawful for any person to perform electrical work <br /> subject to this Article unless licensed as a master <br /> electrician, or unless licensed as a journeyman or <br /> apprentice electrician and doing electrical work under the <br /> supervision, direction and control of a licensed master <br /> electrician, unless the person is exempt under any of the <br /> following: <br /> (1) The holder of a maintenance electrician license may, <br /> during employment by one employer on a full-time basis, <br /> perform electrical work, restricted to maintenance, repair <br /> and replacement of any electrical conductor or equipment <br /> pertaining to branch circuits or similar work within the <br /> building or premises of the employer without the <br /> supervision, direction, or control of a master electrician. <br /> A maintenance electrician is specifically limited to work on <br /> premises controlled by the employer. Maintenance <br /> electricians are prohibited from installing any additional <br /> wiring or equipment. <br /> (2) A property owner may perform electrical work in a <br /> residence owned and occupied by the owner as a homestead. <br /> All such work shall be subject to permit, inspection, and <br /> approval in accordance with the terms of this Article. <br /> (3) Electrical work done by persons engaged by any <br /> electric utility in the construction and maintenance of the <br /> utility's system shall not be subject to this Article. <br />
