<br />I 'J-~ W <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />-24- <br /> <br />during electrical installations, maintenance or repairs, <br />using the NEC and this Article as the authority for their <br />conclusions. The board shall allow applicants to use <br />materials during the examination that are normally available <br />to the applicant at a place of business, including, but not <br />limited to a copy of the NEC, reference books and a <br />calculator. <br /> <br />(b) The electrical board shall prepare an examination <br />for journeyman electricians consisting of not less than 50 <br />questions designed to determine the qualifications of <br />applicants to correctly install electrical work in <br />accordance with this Article and the NEC. Questions shall <br />be restricted to the subjects of procedure and installation <br />techniques. <br /> <br />(c) The electrical board shall prepare an examination <br />for maintenance electricians consisting of verbal questions <br />to determine the qualifications of the applicant to <br />correctly maintain electrical work in accordance with this <br />Article and the NEC. Questions shall be restricted to the <br />subjects of procedures and installation techniques. <br /> <br />(d) The electrical board, working in cbnjunction with <br />city staff, may provide for testing of candidates for both <br />master electrician and journeyman electrician through the <br />use of standardized tests, or by contract between the city <br />and a qualified third party to prepare and administer such <br />tests. In such cases, the board shall retain the right to <br />review such tests on a regular basis and to recommend <br />termination of such contract. <br /> <br /> <br />Sec. 5-155. Issuance of License; Renewal. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />(a) Upon receiving a passing grade, the building <br />official shall issue a license to the successful candidate. <br /> <br />(b) No license shall be issued for more than one year. <br />A license may be renewed from year to year upon application <br />of the holder. All licenses issued under this Article shall <br />expire on the last day of the month of the licensee's birth <br />month. <br /> <br />(c) Any licensee failing to make application for renewal <br />of a license within sixty (60) days after its expiration <br />shall be considered as an applicant for an original license. <br />This Section does not permit electrical work by an <br />electrician with an expired license. <br /> <br />(d) Licensees shall have the appropriate license in <br />their immediate possession at all times when doing any <br />electrical work and shall display it upon demand by any <br />peace officer, the electrical inspector or building <br />official, or by the owner of the premises or property upon <br />which the licensee is working, offers to work, or has <br />worked. <br /> <br />(e) In the event that a license or permit issued under <br />the provisions of this chapter is lost or destroyed, the <br />person to whom it was issued may obtain a duplicate upon <br />furnishing proof satisfactory to the electrical inspector <br />that the permit or license was lost or destroyed, and upon <br />payment of a fee set by separate ordinance. <br /> <br />(f) Whenever a licensee has a new name, address or <br />.1 employer, the licensee shall immediately notify the <br />electrical inspector of the new information. <br />
