The board shall allow applicants to use materials during the examination that are normally available to the applicant at a place of business, including, but not limited to a copy of the NEC, reference books and a calculator. (b) The electrical board shall prepare an examination for journeyman electricians consisting of not less than 50 questions designed to determine the qualifications of applicants to correctly install electrical work in accordance with this Article and the NEC. Questions shall be restricted to the subjects of procedure and installation techniques. (c) The electrical board shall prepare an examination for maintenance electricians consisting of verbal questions to determine the qualifications of the applicant to correctly maintain electrical work in accordance with this Article and the NEC. Questions shall be restricted to the subjects of procedures and installation techniques. (d) The electrical board, working in cbnjunction with city staff, may provide for testing of candidates for both master electrician and journeyman electrician through the use of standardized tests, or by contract between the city and a qualified third party to prepare and administer such tests. In such cases, the board shall retain the right to review such tests on a regular basis and to recommend termination of such contract. Sec. 5-155. Issuance of License; Renewal. , (a) Upon receiving a passing grade, the building official shall issue a license to the successful candidate. (b) No license shall be issued for more than one year. A license may be renewed from year to year upon application of the holder. All licenses issued under this Article shall expire on the last day of the month of the licensee's birth month. (c) Any licensee failing to make application for renewal of a license within sixty (60) days after its expiration shall be considered as an applicant for an original license. This Section does not permit electrical work by an electrician with an expired license. (d) Licensees shall have the appropriate license in their immediate possession at all times when doing any electrical work and shall display it upon demand by any peace officer, the electrical inspector or building official, or by the owner of the premises or property upon which the licensee is working, offers to work, or has worked. (e) In the event that a license or permit issued under the provisions of this chapter is lost or destroyed, the person to whom it was issued may obtain a duplicate upon furnishing proof satisfactory to the electrical inspector that the permit or license was lost or destroyed, and upon payment of a fee set by separate ordinance. (f) Whenever a licensee has a new name, address or .1 employer, the licensee shall immediately notify the electrical inspector of the new information.
