Permit required; exception. <br /> (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to install or <br /> cause to be installed, or to permit any person to install <br /> any electrical wiring, fixtures or equipment within or on <br /> any building, structure or premises, publicly or privately <br /> owned, or to make any alterations, additions, changes or <br /> repairs within the scope of this Article, without applying <br /> for and obtaining a permit for the work from the Building <br /> Inspection Division, except as otherwise specifically <br /> provided in this Article. <br /> (b) If a person is properly licensed, then no permit <br /> shall be required for the following work: <br /> (1) Maintenance work or the making of minor repairs, <br /> such as the replacement of lamps, sockets, fuses, <br /> drop cords, snap switches or other similar items, <br /> or the replacement of any electrical device, <br /> circuit, or component with a part of similar <br /> nature, size, and application. <br /> (2) The connection of portable electrical equipment to <br /> suitable permanently installed receptacles. <br /> (3) Any work involved in the manufacture, testing, <br /> servicing, altering or repairing of electrical <br /> equipment or apparatus, except that this exemption <br /> shall not apply to any permanent wiring or <br /> permanent attachment. <br /> I <br /> Sec. 5-J.67. Permit application; fee. <br /> (a) Applications for permits shall be made upon forms <br /> approved by the electrical board and provided by the <br /> electrical inspector, and shall contain the following: <br /> (1) The name of the applicant. <br /> (2) The date the application is submitted. <br /> (3) The license number of the applicant, if <br /> applicable. <br /> (4) The exact address where the electrical work is <br /> to be done. <br /> (5) The telephone number where the master <br /> electrician can be reached between the hours <br /> of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (an answering <br /> service or machine is acceptable provided the <br /> master electrician arranges to return calls <br /> , within a 2-hour period). <br /> ¡ <br /> (6) A description of the work, and any other <br /> information deemed appropriate by the <br /> electrical board. <br /> (b) Applications for permits shall only be accepted from <br /> the following persons: <br /> (1) A master electrician licensed under this <br /> Article. <br /> (2) An employee of an electrical contractor <br /> designated by the contractor's master <br />
