This provision ~- <br />shall not apply to miniature swine. <br /> <br />(c) Miniature swine may be kept within the City <br />subject to the following: <br /> <br />(1) No more than one miniature swine may be <br />kept per household or business; <br /> <br />(2) Miniature swine must be spayed or <br />neutered, on or before the age of three <br />months so that no breeding occurs within <br />the City; <br /> <br />(3) No adult male miniature swine may be kept <br />unless his tusks have been surgically <br />removed; <br />.. <br />(4) Miniature swine must be vaccinated <br />annually for rabies and erysipelas by a <br />licensed veterinarian beginning at the <br />age of 4 months; <br /> <br />(5) Miniature swine must not exceed 18 inches <br />at shoulder height and 90 pounds in <br />weight. <br /> <br />(6) Miniature swine must be kept indoors <br />except for temporary brief periods. <br />Outdoor areas for exercise and waste <br />elimination must be secure and clean. <br /> <br />(d) Subsections (a) r (b) and (c) shall not apply <br />to animal sheltersr veterinaryestablishmentsr <br />government agenciesr or commercial animal <br />establishments located on property zoned for <br />such purposes. Such establishments r however <br />must meet sanitation requirements and keep all <br />animals securely caged or penned. <br /> <br />SECTION 7. That Section 3-57 shall be amended to add the <br />words "miniature swiner" before the word dog in both the heading <br />and subsections (a) and (b). <br /> <br />SECTION 8. That Sec. 3 -59 shall be amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 3-59. Ouarantine or Testinq of animals. <br /> <br />(a) The owner of any animal that is reported to be <br />rabid or that thé owner knows or suspects to <br />have rabies, or to have exposed any person to <br />rabiesr shall submit the animal to the local <br />health authority for quarantine or testing. <br /> <br />(b) No person shall remove from the city limits r <br />or kill or cause to be killedr any rabid <br />animalr any animal suspected of having been <br />exposed to rabies r or any animal which has <br />bitten a human or is suspected to have bitten <br />a humanr except as provided herein. <br /> <br />(c) Any animal reported to the local health <br />authority under the provisions of Section 3-58 <br />whose owner cannot be located may be impounded <br />for quarantine in the city animal shelter. <br />
