1..2 TASK 2 - CURRENT SYSTEMS AND ISSUES :JD4- The CONSULTANT shall: 1. 2.1 Assemble and review a listing of the CITY's communication equipment and networks including a: (1) description of existing voice, data, videol and telemetry networks¡ and (2) listing of radio equipment, computer systems, telephone equipment I cable television, and other transfer media, e.g. facsimile, networked word processing equipment, local --~ area network, etc. i 1.2.2 Collect relevant forms, reports, statistical data, and existing documentation to assist the CONSULTANT in understanding or verifying: (1) how major City functions are performed¡ (2) the flow of voice and data information through the various serVlce areas¡ (3) user perceptions of the overall communications systems effectiveness, and major opportunities for improvement¡ and (4) maintenance problems/concerns related to the existing systems. ~ 1. 2.3 Review capabilities of existing communications facilities, including: (1) the adequacy of existing facilities, and their ability to support future communications requirements¡ (2) age and suitability of existing communication facilities, available space for new equipment, and any construction ! necessary to develop these facilities¡ and i , \ (3 ) capability of providing efficient interdepartmental communications. 1.3 TASK 3 - INTERVIEW PERSONNEL The CONSULTANT shall: 1. 3.1 Interview CITY staff to determine specific operational needs for the various service areas, both currently and projected through the next ten years. A total of five interviews each for radio and telephone will be conducted. Additional interviews will be added if deemed necessary by CITY's staff. 1.3.2 Prepare typed interview summaries and return the summaries to each interviewee for review and approval to determine if CONSULTANT has a clear understanding of the messages conveyed in the interviews. Interviewees will have an opportunity to make changes or additions if needed. -2-
