<br />At least two stem seals shall be provided and shall <br />be of the "a" ring type located above and below the <br />stem collar. <br /> <br />d. All internal and external ferrous surfaces shall be <br />coated with a fusion bonded epoxy to a minimum <br />thickness of 8 mils. <br /> <br />e. To minimize operating torque, thrust washers shall <br />be used above and below the stem collar. A food <br />grade lubricant shall be used in this area and be <br />sealed between "a" rings. <br /> <br />f. The valve shall be designed so that no metal <br />fasteners or screws other than the stem and stem <br />nut are exposed to water. <br /> <br />g. Valves shall be cast, assembled, and tested in the <br />U.S.A. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Item #5: <br />equal <br /> <br />quantity - 6 ea., 6" gate valves, Mueller or <br /> <br />a. Valves shall be manufactured in accordance with the <br />applicable provisions of ANSI/AWWA C509. All <br />ferrous parts shall be made of cast or ductile <br />iron. Bonnet and body metal thickness shall exceed <br />the minimum thickness permitted by ANSI/AwwA <br />C153/A2l.53-88. <br /> <br />b. Val ve shall be seat tested at a rated working <br />pressure of at least 200 psi with no leakage. A <br />shell test of 400 psi shall be applied to the bedy <br />with no leakage through the metal, flanged joints <br />or stem seals. <br /> <br />c.
