c¡fpu.
Section 3.85 - Sick Leave (Sick Bank):
The following is the policy for all non-civil service employees who were continuously
employed by the City prior to October 1, 1980.
1. The number of sick days that the employee had earned prior to October 1,
1980 was computed into a dollar figure based on the employee's hourly
wage as of March 23, 1981. This dollar figure will be the total payment for
sick leave the employee will receive at termination (maximum of ninety (90)
days).
2. The employee will continue to accrue sick leave; however, the "new" sick
leave (sick leave earned after October 1, 1980) will not be paid upon
termination.
3. If the employee becomes ill, he/she will first use the "new" sick leave noted
in #2 above. If he/she uses all of the "new" sick leave then he/she will begin
to use the leave accrued prior to October 1, 1980. If any of the sick leave
accrued prior to October 1, 1980 is used, the dollar figure will be recalculated
to reflect the amount due at termination. Money will be subtracted at the
new rate. Old sick leave cannot be reaccumulated.

4. Employees hired after October 1, 1980 will not be paid for ~mused sick leave
at termination.
Section 3.87 - Holiday Leave Bank:
The following is the policy for all employees who were continuously employed by the City
prior to October 1, 1992.
1. Holiday Leave time accrued as of October 1, 1992 will be "frozen". There
I
will be no further accural of holiday leave after October 1, 1992.
2. As frozen holiday time is taken, the number of hours of holiday time will be
deducted hour for hour at the employee's rate of pay at the time the leave is
taken. Frozen holiday leave time that is used cannot be reaccumulated. (See
Page 44 - Section 7.35 - Rules Governing Holidays)
3. Upon termination, an employee will be paid the balance of the frozen holiday
time at the employee's current rate of pay.
October 1992 Employee Handbook - City of San Marcos Page 3 - 7
