Boeker May 3, 1983 Page Two
where needed. A 4-lane roadway with left-turn protection
would be desireable through much of this area. Additional
R.O.W. would be required in at least parts of this stretch
of road. Longitudinal drainage and R.O.W. acquisition would
not be eligible for Urban Systems funding.
5. Widen Highway 123 to accomrrDdate a left-turn lane out to Broad-
way Street, and add a left-turn phase to the signal at this
int~rsection for outbound traffic. Some work on longitudinal
drainage facilities, not eligible for Urban Systems funding,
would have to be done to accommodate the widened roadway.
6. Re-route F.M. 621 to intersect Highway 123 at Ebony Street,
signalize this intersection if the traffic warrants it, and
remove F.M. 621 between Tampico and Hays County Road to im-
prove that intersection at Highway 123, or close off this
intersection from access to Highway 123. R.O.W. required for
this would not be eligible for Urban Systems funding.
7. Realign LBJ Street at Ranch Road 12 to line up with Bishop
Street, construct required cross drainage improvements, and
signalize this intersection if the traffic warrants it. R.O.W.
required to realign LBJ would not be eligible for Urban Systems
funding.
8. Construct/upgrade LBJ Street from about Walnut Street on into
Hughson Heights to join up with existing street, and redesign
intersection of LBJ and Hollahd to remove offset. This would
involve paving, èross and longitudinal drainage improvements,
striping and signing, and R.O.W. acquisition. Longitudinal
drainage improvements and R.O.W. would not be eligible for
Urban Systems funding.
9. Redesign and construct new intersection at LBJ, Chestnut and
Forest Streets. A design has already been generated for this
project and is awaiting funding. This intersection may also
be a candidate for signalization if traffic volumes warrant.
10. Widen Comanche Street from Sessom to Hopkins to provide a
western route around the SWT campus. This will involved paving,
striping and signage and may required some R. o. 'N. acquisition,
which would not be eligible for Urban Systems funding. Upgrading
of this route would probably lead tG increased usage, especially
after the existing route through the campus from LBJ and
Sessoms to Guadalupe and Woods is closed, so that signals may
be required along Comanche at Sessom, Hutchison and Hopkins.
11. Design and construct down~owh by-pass throughway. This is
a long-term project requiring more funding than is available
through Urban Systems, but some parts of it could perhaps be
funded by this program. Phases or sections of the entire project
