<br /> §t SAN MARCOS CODE §2 <br /> (e) The continued economic growth of San Marcos and the <br /> surrounding area is encouraged by a pleasing natural en- <br /> vironment, quality supplies of water and recreational oppor- <br /> tunities in close proximity to San Marcos. <br /> CD The city council of the City of San Marcos desires to adopt <br /> site development rules and regulations for development <br /> within said city and within its extraterritorial jurisdiction <br /> for the purpose of protecting the San Marcos River, por- <br /> tions of the Blanco River, and the Edwards Aquifer from <br /> the effects of water quality deterioration due to pollution <br /> resulting from generalized discharges of waste which are <br /> not traceable to a specific source, such as storm sewer <br /> discharges and urban runoff from rainwater. <br /> (Ord. No. 1984-72, §§ 1-6,6-13-84) <br /> Section 2. Application of chapter. <br /> (a) This chapter sets out special requirements for the develop- <br /> ment of land located on hillsides, in areas having erodible soils, <br /> the drainage basin of the outcrop of the Edwards and Associated <br /> limestone (the Edwards Recharge Zone), and the San Marcos <br /> River Corridor, as defined in Chapter 36 of the City Code within <br /> the corporate limit!3 of the. City of San Marcos and within its <br /> extraterritorial jurisdiction, as identified by topographic and soils <br /> analyses submitted with the application for a site development <br /> permit, or by information on file at the City of San Marcos. <br /> (b) All land within the city limits of the City of San Marcos, <br /> Texas and within its extraterritorial jurisdiction that is to be <br /> developed or further developed shall comply with the require- <br /> ments ofthis ordinance. <br /> (c) No new development or construction of new structures shall <br /> be undertaken until ten (10) days after a site development permit <br /> has been obtained from the city engineer or his designated repre- <br /> sentative, for the City of San Marcos, Texas. Existing structures <br /> may be replaced and/or enlarged up to a maximum amount equal <br /> to fifty (50) per cent of the ground floor area of the existing <br /> structure before having to comply with the provisions of this <br /> ordinance. <br /> Supp. No. 21 1214 <br />
