The building program will also include findings from <br />the facility /site assessment conducted in Task 1.3. <br />1.5.2 The detailed library building program will include: <br />a) Site Guidelines: These guidelines will discuss branding and system wide image <br />issues, signage and way finding, parking, landscaping, service buildings, and other <br />site - related issues. <br />b) Exterior Building Guidelines: These guidelines will address exterior building issues <br />including shape, structure and recommendations on roofing, windows and exterior <br />wall materials. <br />c) Interior Building Guidelines: These guidelines will cover planning guidelines for <br />interiors including systems, furniture, fixtures, equipment, finishes and graphics. The <br />guidelines will discuss flexibility, durability, maintenance and other issues related to <br />the building interior. <br />e) Building System Guidelines: These guidelines will discuss HVAC, plumbing, <br />electrical and security systems in terms of durability, performance, efficiency and <br />maintenance. <br />f) Future Trends: The program will include a discussion of future trends in construction, <br />technology, and in the library profession as they affect planning and libraries. <br />g) Space Requirements: The program will include actual space requirements for each <br />area of the library. Included in these guidelines are function, location, staffing, <br />square footage, as well as furniture and equipment requirements. The Architect will <br />base library space programs on the library stakeholder and community input, service <br />needs, and community needs. <br />h) Renovations: The building program will make recommendations regarding any <br />renovations to the existing building that will be needed to complete the project <br />successfully. <br />1.5.3 Prepare and submit to the City's library staff and Library Board for review and approval, <br />a draft building program. Upon completion of the City's review and approval, the Consultant <br />will prepare a final program for use in the conceptual design process. <br />1.6 — TASK 6 — CONCEPTUAL DESIGNS (MONTH FIVE) <br />The Architect will: <br />1.6.1 Lead a brainstorming session ( "design charrette ") with key members of the Architect's <br />design team, the City, the City's library staff and the Library Board to gain insights and <br />formulate measures that will guarantee this Project is a success. The design charette will <br />expedite the design process while achieving greater consensus among all team members. The <br />Architect will ensure that fundamental considerations will include functional layout, circulation <br />analysis, energy conservation, manpower /staffing implications, design vocabulary, growth, <br />flexibility, furniture layouts, capital costs and operational costs. <br />Dewberry Architects Agreement Final <br />4 <br />
