<br /> , ,- 1"1 <br /> ..\..O'j <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 11 <br /> RESTROOM BUILDINGS <br /> (6) Installation of Piping Systems: <br /> (a) Runs of pipe shall be installed essentially as <br /> indicated on the drawings. Pipes shall be cut accurately to <br /> measurements established at the building, and shall be worked into <br /> place without forcing or springing. Pipe above ground shall be run <br /> parallel with the lines of the building. All changes in pipe size <br /> shall be made using reducing fittings. No long screws or bushings <br /> will be permitted. <br /> (b) All piping systems shall be anchored where <br /> directed or required to prevent excessive movement and vibration. <br /> Piping systems shall be so installed and supported as to provide <br /> flexibility to accommodate expansion and contraction of the pipes <br /> occasioned by temperature changes, both in the contained fluid and <br /> of the space surrounding the lines. <br /> (c) Horizontal runs of piping in the chase shall be <br /> supported on eleven fig. 600 channels and clamps. Channels shall <br /> be secured to the wall. <br /> (7) Fabrication of Pipe Joints: <br /> (a) Joints in the various piping systems, in <br /> general, shall be made in accordance with the following material. <br /> Special joints shall be made as required by the particular <br /> conditions and with the approval of the Engineer. 1'roprietary <br /> joints shall be made in strict accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> detailed instructions. <br /> (b) Cast Iron Sewer Pipes: Caulked joints in cast <br /> iron bell and spigot soil pipe shall be made in each case by <br /> centering the spigot within the bell, packing the joint with oakum, <br /> closely CODlpaCted, and then pouring the remaining space in the bell <br /> full of 1IO1ten lead. When the lead has cooled, it shall be <br /> thoroughly caulked at least three times around the joint using <br /> caulking tools of the proper width. Joints with gaskets shall be <br /> installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. <br /> 11-21 <br />
